Shaft was one of only two surviving puppies in Dovie's ill-fated final litter. Brave and bold as soon as he was on his feet, he has had a stallion attitude almost since birth.

In his second shows ever, he got a puppy Group 3, despite wanting to play not gait on the down and back. Shaft finished his championship at the Griffin Georgia shows in October 2005 by getting his 3rd major. Shaft earned his JC title at SCOA nationals in June 2006.

Shaft sired a litter of 5 puppies born October 19, 2006 out of Ch Odi et Amo Eliza Elessar. All the puppies went to their new homes over the holidays. Pictures of the litter can be seen here.
